The El Paso County Environmental Division, Household Hazardous Waste Facility is located at 3255 Akers Dr. Colorado Springs, 80922. I

El Paso/Teller County households only.
Proof of residency is required at drop-off (photo ID, lease, etc.)

Recycling Programs

AN APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED

You can drop off co-mingled recycling at 3255 Akers Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80922

ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING:
All items must be clean prior to drop off (free of food, liquid, dirt, etc.)

  • Cardboard: Old Corrugated Cardboard [OCC] only (must be flattened)

  • Glass: Food & Beverage only (no lids/corks)

  • Aluminum Cans

  • Tin Cans (must discard paper)

  • Newspaper

  • Office Paper: No shiny paper (such as wrapping paper), no paper smaller than 8 ½ x 11”

If the item you are looking to recycle is not listed here, it will NOT be accepted in the bins.

Clean Sweep Household Hazardous Waste Events

The following items are accepted for FREE at the Clean Sweep Events from El Paso and Teller County residents ONLY. (No trash or business waste) :

  • Electronics: ANY SIZE TV or COMPUTER MONITOR, limited to three [3] total per vehicle. Computers, printers, fax machines, laptops, notebooks, ultra-books, net books, electronic tablets, DVD players, VCRs, radios, stereos, video game consoles, video display devices with viewing screens greater than 4” diagonally. (Cables/cords/wires will only be accepted if they are permanently attached to the device).

  • Mattresses/Box Springs (limited to six [6] total)

  • Tires passenger and light truck (limit is nine [9] per vehicle, as required by state law). Can be on or off rim.

  • Paint and paint-related products (stains, strippers, thinners, varnishes, etc.) – 50 gallon limit.

  • Household chemicals (aerosols, ammonia, bleach, cleaners, lamp oil, etc.)

  • Lawn & garden chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, poisons, plant food, etc.)

  • Antifreeze Limited to 10 gal. Must come in containers no larger than 5 gal filled no more than ¾ full all containers must be left at site.

  • Automotive chemicals waxes, bug / tar / vinyl / chrome / engine cleaners, etc.

  • Automotive fluids – motor oil, antifreeze, brake & transmission fluids (Limited to 10 gal TOTAL. Must come in containers no larger than 5 gal filled no more than ¾ full all containers must be left at site)

  • Gasoline Limited to 10 gal. Must come in containers no larger than 5 gal filled no more than ¾ full all containers must be left at site.

  • All types of batteries – lead-acid vehicle batteries and household batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt, watch & hearing aid batteries). No corrosion. Must come in clear bag or jar.

  • Fluorescent Lights – CFL bulbs, up to a total of 100 feet of tubes.

Home & Possession Safety

At our January 10, 2023 Association Meeting, we were glad to be joined by Crime Prevention Officer Wilkerson. He share several safety tips that we hope are of use to all of our neighbors. In particular, it is clear that crimes of opportunity should be avoided by protecting your belongings.
